Welcome to the Wolverhampton LDC

Supporting NHS dental practitioners and their patients in the Wolverhampton area

The Wolverhampton Local Dental Committee is an independent self-financing – non profit body with statutory functions. It is not a trade union. LDCs have been in existence since 1911, and constantly modernise to work effectively with a changing NHS.  We are a statutory body, recognised by successive NHS Acts, as the professional organisation representing individual GDPs and GDPs as a whole to Primary Care Trusts (PCTs), and Strategic Health Authorities (StHAs), and their successors.

The 1999 NHS Act extended the LDC role to include representation of all NHS GDPs whatever their contractual status. Wolverhampton LDC represents GDPs contracted to Wolverhampton PCT. We are here to help, support and aid our colleagues in general practice. We as local GDPs ourselves are able to relate to their issues and represent their viewpoint.

Members attend regular LDC meetings and work closely with Wolverhampton Primary Care Trust, and other LDCs, both locally and nationally, to share information, ideas, and best practice. The purpose of this website is to help broadcast news and helpful information quickly to the NHS dentists of Wolverhampton

LDC will have an important role in the foreseeable future, not only in calling PCTs to account but also in acting as a bridge between the profession and management organisations.

We have a huge opportunity to ensure that the local dental agenda is properly set. Please don’t hesitate to let the office know about anything that our PCT is introducing that you don’t feel comfortable with.
